Scholastic
Reading Counts Program
How it
works:
First,
students are given the SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) test to determine
their reading level. All the books
in our library that have Reading Counts quizzes are labeled on the spine
indicating that there is a quiz available and inside the cover for reading
level. After the students find out their reading level, they read an
appropriate book, take a quiz, and get a reward. Any student who successfully passes one Reading Counts quiz
gets his or her picture placed within a star and hung on the wall outside of
the library. Students also receive
a free pencil.
Students
who really do well and improve their reading level also receive award
certificates and other prizes at our quarterly Awards Assemblies.
