Mrs. Montgomery's Class

Dear Parents,

     This is my sixth year at Horizon and ninth year teaching. My background is in history and reading, and I have earned both a BA in History and Master's in Literacy at Western Washington University.

     This year your student will be with me daily for two periods, and will spend a third period with me every three weeks. Because the curriculum is integrated, many reading and writing projects will focus on social sudies themes. You will find that the students will be involved in numerous projects throughout the school year. For this reason, much of class time will be spent on active hands on learning. Feel free to drop in at any time and help participate; I can always use parent volunteers.

     As a member of the Teacher Leadership Project, I recieved a large technology grant for our classroom. We have seven I mac computers, a classroom digital camera, CD burner, and an InFocus projector. Most projects will involve the use of technology. In the past, students have emailed work to me from home or brought work on CD's and disks.

     I have puchased many of the supplies for this year. In order to help best prepare your student, I do ask that he or she purchase the following:

     As a parent of two school-age children, I understand that supplies can be costly and sometimes not in the family budget. If you are unable to purchase these supplies, please let me know and I will provide them.
