Awards for Production of Grease!
For the past 2 years the FHS Drama program has participated in the 5th Avenue High School Musical Awards. The Awards are a "Tony Awards-style show" which "was created to honor the work, talent and commitment that students, parents and faculty devote to their school’s yearly musical productions".
This year, on 2 different nights different adjudicators came to FHS to see Grease and judged the production in several categories. We just received news that our production of Grease has been nominated for 5 awards and received honorable mention in 3 categories.
Award Nominations are for:
• Outstanding Music Direction
• Outstanding Program Design
• Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role - Matt Frye
• Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Featured Ensemble Role - Denny
Franzmann
• Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Group - Burger Palace Boys
Honorable Mention in these categories:
• Outstanding Direction
• Outstanding Orchestra
• Outstanding Performance by a Chorus
The AWARDS show is Monday, June 8th in Seattle. It will later be broadcast
on TVW. This is really an incredible show with famous people and lots of

Our Area
FHS is located in the northwest corner of Washington State, only 15 miles south of the Canadian border. Our high school is the largest in the county at over 1,500 students. We have a wonderfully diverse population fed by new immigrants from all over Asia and Europe, long time area residents, migrant families, and the culturally rich Lummi Nation. Ferndale is growing rapidly with over 11,000 residents, as is most of Whatcom County (over 175,000 residents).
