Ferndale Schools

Hello. This is Superintendent Quinn calling from the Ferndale School District on Saturday, September 11, to let you know that the teachers' strike is officially over. We will start school with students on Tuesday, September 13, following a teacher preparation day on Monday, September 12.

The district and the union achieved a tentative agreement on a new contract at midnight on Friday night. The teachers met Saturday morning and voted unanimously to approve the new contract. The school board will meet on Monday to ratify the contract.

I know this has been a difficult process for many. I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. I truly believe we have achieved a settlement that is going to be best for everyone and ultimately result in a better education for your sons and daughters.
