Garden Club
By C. Dunn
Thanks to the efforts of high school senior, Pasquele Sena, and some generous donations by VanWingerden Garden Center, the Custer School Garden Club will be growing produce to benifit the Ferndale Food Bank.
Benches
By PTO
Two excellent benches were recently donated by North Star, NW Shippers and Bode (all three were Jog-A-Thon sponsors, too!) The benches are now installed and ready for use at the front of our school.
Business Donors
By PTO
Jog-A-Thon Sponsors have been the theme of an amazing display-activity in our main foyer. The names and locations of all our business sponsors were listed down one side with colored yarn linking the business name to their location on a map. To encourage patronage of our sponsors there was a corresponding promotional activity where two plastic
flamingos ("Pete" and "Repete") were secretly placed at one of the business locations. Students who spotted them were recognized during morning announcements and the previous business location was revealed. The display was reminiscent of the popular "I Spy" children's books. The photos on this web site (see slide show above) don't do this display justice. Creativity + Informative = Awesome!
Filtered Water Station Installed
By Teresa Finn
A Water Filtration System is now installed in the main hall near the gym. This was a joint project by the PTO and Student Council that started last year. As well as being a drinking fountain, this modern unit has an additional outlet for quickly filli
ng water bottles. Popular with both students and staff, this feature helps cut down on time spent waiting in line. Three cheers for some great tasting teamwork between student council and PTO!
