Winter Music

Our Winter program this year was a musical selection sung by 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. It included several pieces that required groups of students to sing different parts. There was no doubt that the performers enjoyed what they were doing, and the photos of them at work clearly show it!

Creative Writing Class

A new 5 week creative writing class for grades 4-6 is in the wings. Class will meet on Mondays: January 25, February 1, 8, 22 and March 1 from 3:30 - 4:30 in the library. Learn how to create characters, plots, settings and generate new ideas. We'll do lots of fun writing exercises and spend time talking about our favorite books. Sponsored by the Custer PTO.

Destination

Our Book Fair Theme during fall conferences was "Read Around the World." Outside the library Leslie Ward constructed a bulletin board with unlabled illustrations of international landmarks, each with a number. Students could enter a contest by submitting the name of each landmark (and for older kids- the coresponding city, county and continent as well.) Each day a new clue was posted, until there was one for each landmark. The contest inspired considerable discussion and excitement. (Hover your mouse over the picture above for a closer view.)
