  1. Today we'll be doing a few more sections in the HTML Introduction:
    • HTML Entities (Practise all in notepad), then
    • HTML Links [The next page] and do The Anchor Tag and the Href Attribute section only.
    • HTML Tables: Yes, it's a review, but adds a little more. Do it all.
    • SAVE IT OFTEN.

  3. Go onto the next page. Read and DO everything except the last: Always Quote Attribute Values.

  1. NVU: Make a new web-page on N-Vu.  If you are satisfied with your E-Folio Intro page you may choose to work on an additional page from the following list:  Include graphics, not too many fonts, colors, etc. Or create a different version of your Intro Page.

    q       Jobs or Careers: Resume, Cover Letter sample & Job Application Information

    q       Classes: This page should have links to samples of work in all the main subject areas, such as, English: Autobiography.

    q       C.O.R.E.: 50 Goals, Coat of Arms, 30 steps, etc…

  1. Assignment #16 - Web Pages that Rock. Part II

    1. You are going to take the Screenshots [The pictures of the webpages] and turn them into a PowerPoint. Each Page should have the Name of the school or website, the picture of the page and a few bulleted comments.
    2. It should have a title page and a credits page that lists the websites.
    3. Extra Credit: Make the pictures act as links to the actual webpage.
    4. When you've finished, switch seats with someone and share PowerPoints.

    Web Pages that Rock.

    1. You are going to do some research and find High School (especially alternative H.S.) websites and evaluate them. Start with Google.
    2. When you find a website you like, hit shift-PrtScr (Button near the F12 key on the upper right hand corner of the keyboard.
    3. Then Open Paint and hit Ctrl-V (Or right click and paste. Or Edit – Paste). The picture of the screen should appear on paint.
    4. Click File-Save As-Give it an identifying name (all lower case and no spaces) and save it as a JPG or jpeg file into your folder.
    5. Open a word file and make a few notes about what makes the website good.
    6. Repeat 2-5 until you have a few school websites. Then you can go to other commercial or personal websites that you have found easy to use and attractive. NO MYSPACE!
    7. Repear 2-5 for 2 of those sites.
    8. You should have pictures and notes on 5 different websites.

    Creating Web Pages in Microsoft Publisher.

    A really easy way to make a Web-Page

    1. Open Microsoft Publisher.
    2. Click Web Sites and e-mail
    3. Click Web Sites
    4. Click 3 page Web Site
    5. Choose one of the styles in the box at the right
    6. Fill in the Personal Information for yourself or an imaginary person or creature.
    7. Click Include Color Scheme in this set.
    8. Choose a color scheme

    Note: You can always go back and change the structure (not the information you put in),

    So that you can see it with other schemes and layouts.

    SAVE into your folder.

    1. Choose one of the top two Navigation Bar choices: Vertical and Bottom & Horizontal and Bottom
    2. Create a business name. What would you like to do and get paid for?
    3. Where will you operate? Seattle, Walla Walla, Timbuktu?
    4. Write a little paragraph about who you are.

    SAVE into your folder.

    1. Insert a picture or clip art (Instead of the one built in) that represents your services.
    2. Click on the 2 box at the bottom to take you to page two.
    3. Write a little paragraph about what your services are in the About Us.

    SAVE into your folder.

    1. Insert another picture or clip art (Instead of the one built in) that represents your services.
    2. Click on the 3 box at the bottom to take you to page three.
    3. Insert directions on getting to your place of operation.

    SAVE into your folder.

Day 13 - PowerPoint - Assignment #12

Open PowerPoint.

  1. Save as “Assn022707” in your folder.
  2. Create a Title Page called “Computer Applications”.
  3. Give it a background and change the font.
  4. Insert a Next button with a sound effect.
  5. Add an image of a computer or computer related item.
  6. Create a new page and bring it in with a slide transition. Title it “Question #_”.
  7. You will create 3 pages with questions like the Scavenger Hunt.  They do not need to have anything to do with computers.  They could be thematically based or completely unrelated.  Each page needs a transition, an image and links forward and back.  For example, your question could be what 2 Hair Metal bands did Adrian Vandenberg play guitar for?  
  8. Insert an HTML link to a website that might help them search.  For the above example: www.amazon.com.
  9. Create a credits page.
  10. Then trade places with someone else and take their quiz.
 
 
Day 12
  1. PowerPoint: Go to \\Altsnap\students\TempStudFold\2. Class resources\Computer Apps Resources\Powerpoints [You can past this into your address bar on a school computer.] and go through the PowerPoint Tips Tutorial.
  2. Then create Assignment #10: an Artifact & Reflection powerpoint with 4 slides: Title Page, Artifact Page, Reflection Page, Credits Page. See Rob's samples in the folder above.
  3. Go back to your original PowerPoint presentation and set it up for Kiosk/automatic timings.

Day 10
  1. PowerPoint Assignment #10: Open PowerPoint
    • Creat a four page presentation with four different fonts, formats. Use a photo, color, texture and pattern.
    • Then use four different slide transitions. Fly in the text with a variety of animations.
    • Extra Credit for using a transparent background.

  1. Today we should be finishing an Internet Scavenger Hunt
  2. Open Encarta or got to Encarta On-line and find a fact that you can ask Rob.  Type it at the bottom of your page.
  3. Continue designing your CD or DVD cover.
 
 
Day 7
  1. Finish Assignment #8 - 15-25 minutes. Excel Practice: Top 10 Songs
  2. Begin Designing an imaginary CD or DVD Cover. It should include a photo or two and an Artist and Title.
 
 
Day 6

Computer ID and software check.

Assignment #8 - 15-25 minutes. Excel Practice: Top 10 Songs

  1. Open Excel
  2. Type two columns of 10 Artists and Songs
  3. Type the numbers 1, 2, 3 in the first 3 spaces of Column A. Select all three cells. Then click and drag from the lower right hand corner down to row 11. The numbers should automatically count up.

Assignment #9 - 15-25 minutes.

  1. Today we will be answering the questions from Page 3 of the Internet Scavenger Hunt.
  2. Answer questions in the document and save in your CompApps folder.

Play with Paint. (You can e-mail Rob: Happy Birthday!) Finish any unfinished assignments.

 
 
Day 5

Computer ID and software check.

  • First Identify your computer's name.  Desktop:RtCl "My Computer", LftCl "properties, Cl Computer name.
  • Copy the computer name into a word document and save it into your folder.
  • Type the following list and note which programs your computer has:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Adobe Reader (Which version?)
    • Internet Explorer
    • Firefox
    • NVU
    • Microsoft Encarta
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Premier
    • Windows Movie Maker

 

Assignment #8 - 15-25 minutes. Excel Practice: Top 10 Songs

Day 4

Assignment #6 - 15-25 minutes.

  1. Today we will be answering the questions from Page 2 of the Internet Scavenger Hunt. There is a copy of the questions in a Word Document in CompApps Resources folder. Open as Read-Only then save it to your Comp Apps folder. 
  2. Answer questions in the document and save in your CompApps folder.

Assignment #7 - 20-30 minutes.

Day 3

Assignment #4 - 15-20 minutes.

  1. Today we will be starting an Internet Scavenger Hunt.  Answer the questions from Page 1 in a Word Document and save it to your Comp Apps folder. 
  2. When you are finished, reSave and then Save as and create a backup. Save a copy to Rob's iBox in the TempStudFold.

Assignment #5

  1. Go to Student Folders on altsnap. It is 1 folder up from TempStudFold.
  2. Go to \\Altsnap\students\Clearview Publications\2006-2007.
  3. Open a photo and "Save as..." into your computer apps folder with an appropriate name..
  4. Shrink the photo by clicking Image - Stretch/Skew - then type 30% in both the Horizontal and Vertical boxes. Hit Enter/OK.

  1. Goto Clearview's home page, click on Technology Info link.  Scroll down and read: Choosing a Good Password for Computer Access & Protection.
  2. Next practice what you have read and choose 1 or 2 new passwords
  3. E-mail me your uncrackable passwords and how you created them.  I will respond with suggestions on how to make them even better.

Assignment #3

  1. Biz letter & e-mailing attachments 
  2. Open word and save file as “bizlet”. 
  3. Type me a business multi-paragraph letter (Format: Blue WB30)
    • Use proper format include title
    •  Explain the computer lab rules and course expectations.
    •  Include a closing paragraph that tells me what you want to learn in this class.
    •  Include a salutation
    •  Save file
    • Then “save as” and create a backup version “bizletbk”
    •  “Sign” your letter in a font similar to handwriting with a different color text
    •  Open your e-mail and send the letter as an attachment
