Creating Your E-Folio Introduction Page           


    Creating and Saving a File
  1. Open your student folder.  Create a new folder titled 'portfolio' or 'efolio' or 'eport' or _________.
  2. Inside that folder create two folders: 'backup' and 'images' or 'graphics' or 'pictures' or _________.
  3. Open NVU (pronounced N-view)
  4. Click File then Save or the Save Icon .
  5. Title it <yournamehome.html> or something similar that will identify it as yours. 
  6. ALWAYS USE LOWER CASE! ;-)
  7. A n d   n e v e r   s k i p    s p a c e s!
  8. Save it into your portfolio folder.



Creating a Table
  1. Click Table icon or click Table on the toolbar and then click Insert and Table
  2. Create a 2 x 2 table. If you put 0 in the border box you will have invisible lines, if there is a number that is the number of pixeld wide.
    Table
    Here is a table with a border size of 5.
  3. Right click inside the first box, choose Table Insert then click Row Above.
  4. Select both boxes of the row above, right click the click Join Selected Cells
  5. Type a title for your Portfolio: 'Rob's Back Pages' or 'Chris P's E-Folio'



Inserting an Image
  1. Find a picture of yourself or something that represents you. 
  2. Save it into your graphics folder. If the image is too large your page will take forever to load. open it with Paint (or another image editor) and shrink its size to the size you want it to appear on the page. 
  3. Choose 1 cell of the table for a picture of you
  4. Click once on that cell
  5. Click Image Icon .
  6. Open a graphic, insert it.  You will need to type a description of the picture in the alternate text box.



Working with text
  1. Open your introduction in Word
  2. Copy it and paste it into one of cells in the table
  3. Play around with background colors, fonts, word alignment, etc.



Setting up Hyperlinks
  1. Create a list of categories in another cell of the table: CORE, Personal, Pictures, etc.
  2. Highlight one of the items, Pictures, for example.
  3. Click the Link Icon
  4. Type in <pictures.html>
  5. Open a new file, name it pictures.html, create tables and fill them with pictures.  You can also do captions in tables.



Where to now?
  1. Now that you have created a sample page feel free to create a pictures page or totally recreate your E-Folio intro page.
  2. Change your 50 goals sheet into a html file. 
  3. Be creative.
